A Prayer for Parenting

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

A Prayer for Parenting

Father, I bring You my children. Every detail of them — their struggles, friendships, choices, futures. I cannot control any of it, and some days that is the most terrifying thing I know. I release them to You again today.

Give me wisdom for today's specific challenges. Help me to see my children the way You see them: chosen, loved, purpose-filled. Let my home be a place where they encounter Your presence.

Protect them in the ways I cannot see. Go before them into every classroom, every friendship, every digital space. And for the one who has walked away — I trust You with the prodigal.

Amen.

What Does the Bible Say?

The Bible's most concentrated parenting teaching is in Proverbs. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go." Deuteronomy 6:6-7 instructs parents to weave God's words into daily life. The goal is not perfect children but children who know God.

Bible Verses

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not depart from it.

2
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
— Psalm 139:13
What this means: Every child was known by God before conception. Your job is to partner with His plan.
3
"All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace."
— Isaiah 54:13
What this means: Even when you feel like you are failing at teaching faith, God Himself is their teacher.
4
"But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
— Joshua 24:15
What this means: This is the declaration of a home with a purpose. Make it your family's mission.
